WG3 held their first in-person meeting on 12-13 May in Prague (Czechia) where they discussed the next steps within each Subgroup to identify validated indicators of different affective states in individuals of particular animal species. Current subgroups include investigating how to assess the affective state of animals over a period of time, identifying indicators of valence in birds, fear in mammals, fear and pain in fish and amphibians, pain in ruminants, and disgust in mammals, alongside finalizing work on how establishing clear validity criteria for reliable indicators.
